Feb 7th Letter
February 7, 2023
Greetings Neighbor,
We have an update about the costs for the repair of Buckhorn Road and more general information. This letter will be sent via email to everyone for whom I have addresses and will be posted on the website buckhornroad.org.
First, I have now contacted 12 of the 15 owners on Buckhorn road. Which is great news! I will list the ones we still need to hear from below. We now have enough interests to move forward. Hence, I have met with Bud Garman and gotten a quote for the work. I have attached his exact quote below for your reference (it will not be posted on website, send me your email if you haven't already seen it). You will notice the total estimate is $10,055, it might be less if the work is completed before the road dries out...meaning in the next month or so. If not, costs will be $10,055 as water trucks will be required. It is to our benefit to move forward as soon as possible. Bud also informed me he hasn't done work on this road for THREE years. This is why it's more expensive and also the cost of gravel has gone up substantially. He clearly stated, on the quote, that the majority of the cost/work is on the very first part of the road down by Muir Mill, hence the part everyone uses. Chris O. has voluntarily maintained the upper portions of the road, helping to retain the state of that section of the road over the years, but most of the bottom part has been left untouched.
Owner Dues:
$10,055 divided by 12 = $840 each owner due (will be less if we can get remaining 3 owners contacted and paying AND if we do this soon not requiring the water trucks!). Some neighbors will not pay or can't afford the full amount, and some of us with more means will cover the rest of the cost, depending on the final gap, so we can get the job done this year. Please pay as much as possible towards the $840 due from each neighbor.
The fastest way to do payments is two ways: #1. checks written out to “Bud Garman Construction Services” (not me) but sent to my mailing address (below) so I can keep track of amounts. Email me, if you could, to tell me you've sent the check and amount. #2. or if you wish to use a credit/debit card, I've set up a Betterworld donation site here: https://buckhornroadassociation.betterworld.org Note: There is a processing fee if you use a credit card. Your checks we be deposited by Bud Garman after work has been completed.
I will keep everyone updated on the total amount raised and will contact Bud to start work when we have collected the funds for payment. Hopefully, people will send in money asap so I can schedule the work before the road dries out…preferable within the month February.
I will also notify everyone when the work will be taking place. Your response is greatly appreciated ASAP. Note, this is for the 2023 fee only. Next year, we will set up a ballot for contributing neighbors to vote on how dues are allotted: continue with equal distribution, or charge by trips and distance. Please contact me if you have any questions/concerns.
One last side note: Elaine Robinson and I have been communicating. She is aware and understands I’m starting a new road association and is helping me with a few items. She does not have any money left from previous years. If you believe she owes you money, please contact her directly.
List of owner still needed to be contacted (send me info you have):
Bob Williams 1361 BUCKHORN
Jay T Allen 4000 BLACKHAWK (property above Chris O.)
Alfonso Jr Fregoso 1710 BUCKHORN (end of road at top)
