April 1st, 2024 (updated April 9th)

Greetings neighbor,

I have an update about this year’s costs for the repair of Buckhorn Road and more general information. Garman’s quote was sent via email to members. The quote is for basic road repair and does not include base rock replacement for the problematic spots, as explained further below.

Owner Dues:

$5,530 ($5,830-$300 left over from last year) divided by 12 = $460 each owner due. Like last year, since there wasn’t interest in starting an official road association, we have to simply divide the number instead of charging by the length of road used (if you wish to to move to length of road payments, then we need to get the association certified). We had a lot of turnover of owners on the road last year so this will impact how much we raise towards this amount. Please pay as much as possible towards the $460 due from each neighbor.

At this time, I am asking for funding commitments only. Please contact me with your commitment to fund the repairs this year by April 15, 2024. Once I have enough commitments, I will request checks or cash for Garman by early May so we can schedule with them to repair the road. We will not be able to repair the road without enough funding, and we risk service vehicles will not be able to traverse the road as the condition continues to decline, creating a safety and security hazard for all residents on the road.

I will keep everyone updated on the total amount pledged and will keep a running total on the website for everyone to see the amount each person has pledged. Please contact me if you have any questions/concerns.

I need Elaine Robinson’s son's contact. If someone has this, please forward me to contact him.. I understand they are selling the property and it would help for the road to be in good shape.

*Additional bad spots in the road that the above estimate/work will not be fixed (as mentioned above). Beda Garman has informed me that those spots need to be “dug out a foot or so deep and replaced with road base to make it last longer, but that would cost much more”. They will provide a separate estimate and I will forward it along when I receive it.

This letter will be sent via email to everyone for whom I have addresses and will be posted on the website www.buckhornroad.org. I will also put up a street sign like last year at the bottom of the road directing people to the website. I won’t post phone numbers or email on that sign for privacy reasons.

Thank you!
